Please tell us a bit about yourself.

I was a secret writer for years, who eventually plucked up the courage to post a story online at HarperCollins’ authonomy site, (I’m incredibly shy, although most people would not think so). I won a gold medal there, which gave me the confidence to resign from my post as a Company Director and take up writing full time. That was the best decision I ever made because it was the only decision I could make. When I’m not writing, I’m running, as I love keeping fit. Give me a view with some mountains and I’m happier still.

When you create, what inspires you?

Everything inspires me. I only have to close my eyes and think. There isn’t enough time left for me to write all the things I would like to. I never run out of inspiration.

Tell us about the specific inspiration behind one or each of your accepted pieces.

I really don’t have specific inspiration. My mind starts working from the first word and stops when it feels like the poem or prose is finished. Simple as that, really.

What is your medium of choice? Why?

Macbook Pro, it’s the only thing that can keep up with me. LOL

How did you first discover your love for writing?

I discovered my love of writing through reading. Books that took me to fantastical places fueled my mind. As soon as I could, I started to fuel my own.

What advice would you give to an aspiring poet?

Don’t ever listen to anyone who says you can’t, or you aren’t good enough. If you love it, you WILL get better at it. And even if you didn’t, it’s made you happy. That’s all that matters. Life is too short to not be happy.

If you weren’t writing about love, what would be your topic of choice?

Fantasy mostly, but anything that takes my fancy.

fēlan is old English for feel. What makes you feel love?

My wife.
