Interview – Eric N. Peterson

View Eric’s last interview here.

Any new items in your life, projects you’re working on, moves to new locations, etc. that you’d like to tack on to the ‘about you’ in your first interview?

I’m working on a series of small, illustrated, improvised books of surreal/humor oriented subject matter.

Tell us a bit about your working process.

I let my mind freeform, improvise. I either have an idea pop into my head, or I let the idea form itself on paper with loose sketching.

What artists/writers do you admire?

Jack Davis, Brian Froud, Dr. Seuss, Vaughn Bode, Paul Klee, Picasso.

Why create?

It’s where I find the center of my universe

Do you prefer writing/creating art about ‘cynicism’ more than ‘[courage, melancholy, joy, fear or love, whichever issue you contributed to last]?’ Why or why not?

I prefer laughter, humor, dark, sometimes the nuttier or crazier the better.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

“I know you can draw, I want to see you create art” Tina Finegold, my drawing teacher in art school.

fēlan is old English for feel. What makes you feel cynical?
