Please tell us a bit about yourself.
One parent was insane and the other I did not meet until I was in my twenties. For much of my youth, I lived in institutions for children with dysfunctional families. As a result, I felt isolated from what we wards of the state called the world of the “outsiders.” I write, in part, to get find a place in the everyday world.
When you create, what inspires you?
I like to play with rhythms, images, themes, contradictions, and the sound of words.

“Mother Flowers” comes from my mother abandoning me at a merry-go-round.
