Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I am an artist, adventurer and entrepreneur currently living and working in New York and Nebraska. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor and Gallery Director at Peru State Collage. My wife Erin is also an artist and the founder and owner of Grey Fox Felting. We have two amazing daughters and two cats named after birds.
When you create, what inspires you?
I am inspired by the natural world and my adventures in nature.
Tell us about the specific inspiration behind one or each of your accepted pieces.
Beach House is inspired by my time on the West Coast. I lived in Eugene, Oregon for a few years. The skeletal thread and fragmented imagery reminds me of this time.
What is your medium of choice? Why?
My current medium of choice is collage and thread. I began working with collage after school when studio space and money were limited and we were living a nomadic lifestyle. Collage allows me to work within a small space and with reference material bins that travel well.
How did you first discover your love for creating?
I have been creating as far back as I can remember. I can’t not do it.
fēlan is old English for feel. What makes you feel attraction?
Love and beauty.
